Survey Shows vcs Expect Huge Shifts in Fundraising Global Investing

In fact results of a survey of VCs around the world being released today show that just over half (51 percent) of 725 VCs who responded say it is currently “a terrific time” to invest in entrepreneurial companies. But the survey also reveals that 51 percent of the VCs also say they are decreasing their investment activity. nly 13 percent are increasing the number of companies in which they plan to invest according to the 2009 Global Venture Capital Survey by.

The new investment strategy would also include a shift of its capital in other asset classes. According to the new plan CalPERS would invest 49% of its money in stocks including hedge funds 19% in bonds 10% in real estate 5% in treasuries and 2% in cash. ?[This is] to meet our liquidity needs and have it on hand for opportunistic investing including private equity and real estate? McKinley wrote in an email to HedgeFund. According to Reuters these changes would mean stock and hedge fund investments would drop 7 percentage points from 56%fixed income would rise one point all equities public and private would drop three points. If the new private equity allocation is adopted during the June 15 meeting that would increase the range of investment flexibility from 9% to 19% of the pension plan?s market value according to McKinley. He also stressed that a decision has not been made yet.

Authorities said hundreds of people most of them senior citizens with modest incomes invested millions of dollars in Piccoli’s investment firm. Piccoli was arrested in January after an investigation by the U. Postal Inspection Service and the Internal Revenue Service criminal division. Agents charged Piccoli with running a Ponzi scheme which is defined by police as an investment scheme in which money from new investors is used to pay off old investors until eventually the money runs out.
