Investing in real estate investment trusts
The Casper Star Tribune WY
com’ ‘casperstartribune. A: Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are entities that generally invest in different types of property such as shopping centers apartments and other rental buildings. REIT managers for a fee identify and negotiate the purchase of properties they believe to be good investments and manage these properties including all tenant relations. Thus REITs are a good way to invest in real estate for people who don’t want the hassles and headaches that come with directly owning and managing rental property. Surprisingly most books that focus on real estate investing neglect REITs.

8 million budget deficit. Most city departments are looking at ways to cut their costs. But there's one department that believes investing more money now could help us save later. Increasing the number of college graduates in the Rock River Valley by just one percent could bring an extra $230 million to the area. That's why Adam Smith Rockford's Director of Education and Lifelong Learning wants to focus on spending not cutting. Smith says investing in charter schools like the city is looking to do will help more local kids get their high school diplomas and ultimately their college degrees. "Each charter public school if approved and we have one is an additional $10 million dollars investment back into our community" Smith said.

Warren Buffett’s ‘Secret’ Investment Formula
Seeking Alpha NY
Buffett has frequently discussed his investing criteria and the influence Ben Graham had on him in the early days. And he has repeatedly said over the decades that value investing is simple but not easy. So just how simple is Buffett’s investing methodology? There are many stories out there that Buffett does not use a computer (other than to play bridge online) hence he does not use the ubiquitous Wall Street crutch the spreadsheet financial model. Buffett also doesn’t use a calculator. Maybe it’s that Buffett is just so darn sharp that his brain is the only calculator he needs.
