GA_googleFillSlot(“AllAfrica_Story_Inset”);Al Thani expressed this interest in a private audience granted on Sunday night to Mozambican Prime Minister Luisa Diogo who is in the Qatari capital Doha to attend the UN Conference on Development Finance. Al Thani had first stated that Qatari businesses would be interested in investing in Mozambique during a brief meeting with President Armando Guebuza in New York where both men were attending the UN General Assembly. Diogo told reporters that in particular she had spoken with the Emir about the possibility of investing in tourism and infrastructure in the northern port of Nacala. Qatar she said has high levels of liquidity thanks to its status as a major oil and gas producer and wants to invest that money in stable countries which can provide a good return on the investment in the medium and long terms.

So what about this so called bailout package for the big three? Well first of all I don’t like the term because the term itself implies that GM is going to get some free gift from taxpayers. I believe this is totally false. This in my opinion should be viewed as an investment in the success of our economy. Back in the 80′s when the U. government invested in Chrysler they were rewarded handsomely with a $350-million profit on the whole deal. In parking lots a 30 percent tree canopy reduces the interior temperatures of cars by up to 28 degrees and gas-tank emissions by about 12 percent. Studies show that trips along treed thoroughfares seem shorter. Related Links: Leafing through reading on trees Demetra McBride the county’s urban forestry program manager said the effort is more of an investment for the county than a mere sprucing up of its roadways. “Inside the county we know that we do it for specific reasons and to exploit a number of benefits that trees are able to provide” she said. Once mature trees cost $30 to $40 each to maintain each year in return for the millions of dollars in services they collectively provide studies show. Some 30-plus projects will plant hundreds of trees along Sarasota County roadways and other areas. The projects — many of them done in conjunction with county roadwork — are small to large and include beautification and canopy roads.

 I have had everything in cash for the last two years as I was quite pessimistic about the market.  (Actually I should have put some money in gold and a short ETF during that time but at least I’m not hurting like so many other people are. ) I did purchase options in QID (a short ETF on the QQQ) around October 10 – bought too high (and too late) and now will have to take a haircut on it in a few days when the market hits its true bottom (a loss of about 50% probably).  Last night I predicted today (Friday) would be a sharp downturn in the market and that it may hit a new low today.
