) BEIJING (MarketWatch) — China isn’t considering changing caps on foreign investment in local banks, the subprime crisis hasn’t had a big impact on Chinese lenders, and banks taking part in a trial program of investing in insurers will be selected this year, a vice chairman of the banking regulator said in wide-ranging comments Thursday. We don’t have information about changing the caps on foreign investment (in Chinese banks), said Jiang Dingzhi, a vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, on the sidelines of a forum in Beijing.
